for 1876, with 7 1/2in. black powder barrel signed '+COLT'S PT. FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. USA+', fore-sight filed flush, 'pinched' sighting groove to top-strap, solid frame with two lines of patents (hammer screw replaced), front mounted cylinder arbor retaining screw, fluted cylinder, smooth walnut grip with amateur 'kill' notches, 'bullseye' ejector-rod and minimal traces of blued finish, together with a later oiled leather western style holster
